Forensics Labs Day 2

I Love Math!

A good introductory article to the "online issue"

As I sit here churning through "final drafts" of our 8th graders' anthropology papers, I happened upon a rather interesting, albeit rather introductory article addressing the current parent/teen controversy dealing with online/social networking. (Thanks Eloise!!) Just this week I was chatting with a parent who expressed concerns about the amount of time his daughter spends "dialed in" or connected - either online, on her cell phone, or IMing. Needless to say, this has become a more and more common parental complaint, one which even spawned a workshop put on by last year's 8th graders, addressing MySpace and social networking trends.

You can check out the article Eloise shared with me here. While it will only serve as a starting point, I suspect, it does offer some insights into why your 8th grader seems so driven to connect electronically, rather than face-to-face...particularly around the dinner table!

And just about the time we all get this one figured out...there will be something new! At least that's been my experience! Hang in there!!
