Last week we continued our exploration of evolution at the microscopic level. We examined the structure of DNA and how it replicates and expresses itself through proteins by actually building a model of this amazing molecule using red vines and marshmallows. Check out the following pictures and videos to get a sense of how DNA is able to use its double helix to compact itself.

very cool idea. Girls carry their kid's future dna (1/2 of the chromosomes anyway) from birth to the end of their child rearing years. Their behavior choices (i.e. drugs and alcohol and chemicals ) can affect the maternal half of the chromosomes that might end making a baby. So protect your half of the licorice and marshmallows ladies!!! (I'm sure you already learned this but I love to mouth off ;-) kim
Respect the marshmallows...
